A Genuine Welcome
We are glad you are here! For over two centuries, First Baptist Church has been a lighthouse of the hope of Jesus Christ in this community, and that's what we are today. We want you here. We are glad that you are here. Whether you are our guest for the first time, a lifelong member, or anything in between, you can expect to be welcomed with the love of Christ.
An Expectant Environment
When we gather together to worship our Lord, we expect God to move. That expectation generates an excitement in the halls that is nearly palpable. We want to be here. We want to commune with Almighty God. We want to be with each other. We fully expect that God will move among us in such a way that people's lives will be eternally transformed by coming into contact with our Lord. First Baptist Church is an exciting place to be!
One of the great hallmarks of our church is the music ministry. God has blessed us with phenomenal musicians and phenomenal resources. You will be stirred by the majestic sounds of our Casavant Fre'res pipe organ, our grand piano, and several different types of instruments played by expert artists. You will be led in worship by our vast Sanctuary Choir that is composed of people who love using their gifts to lead us in singing to our God. You will get to make a joyful noise unto the Lord alongside several hundred of your brothers and sisters in Christ in a Sanctuary that accentuates every sound lifted to our Lord. Music is a big part of who we are, and we love singing praises to our Lord. We hope you will worship with us.
Our pastor believes firmly in the truth of God's Word, and he has dedicated his life to preaching biblically faithful messages that connect with us in our everyday lives. Each week, we are challenged and encouraged by the Word of God to grow to become more like Jesus in every part of who we are, and we are called to respond to God's message by repenting of sin, trusting God more than we did before, following Jesus more closely than we ever have, and taking the light of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Put simply, we believe that any encounter with God ought to evoke some sort of response in us, and we want to become more like Christ every time we gather to hear God's truth.
Our world is filled with struggle and pain. Jesus never promised that giving our lives to Him would take away all the struggle and pain, but He did promise that giving our lives to Him would give us an eternal hope that transcends any circumstance we could ever face. At First Baptist Church, we gather to commune with God - to be inspired, and to be reminded of the powerful hope we have in Christ. Nothing can separate us from Jesus' love, and nothing can take away the hope we have in Him. Every week, we are reminded of that hope, and we are thankful for it.
